West Los Angeles. Home of the Compton riots and some of the toughest inner city living on the planet. But that didn’t stop me, yet as I drove through the neighborhood my courage waned a little bit with each block as I got closer to the high school I was about to speak at. In those moments of coming clean with my thoughts, I also came clean with a beautiful group of kids, some of whom may have never met an LGBTQ person in their lives…and so it is and so it went. But you’ll have to listen to what I learned about myself and those kids when I saw the world through a different lens of white man me, in West LA.  It was my own coming out journey of a different tale!
