Do you ever feel like the day gets away from you or that you don’t have a good handle of control on it? Go on, it’s okay to admit that these things happen, and they happen to the best of us. That’s why today I wanted to share with you my own morning routine and why I do the things that I do. So get comfortable, because I’m going to lay out the things that help me that I wish more coaching professionals knew about. In this episode Sterling talks about the following: The importance of a good night’s sleep.   Set  yourself up for positive emotions to guide your day. Take the time to focus on the big picture of where you are going and the little picture of what’s next in your life. Get to work! Before you check your phone or Facebook - tackle your most important action item first. I’ll walk you through my own morning routine and touch on why each of those things help me (and will also help you) have a productive day and take ownership of your life. When you start the morning off right that sets the tone for the whole rest of the day, so let me help get your mornings on track! Get enough sleep - know how many hours of sleep your body needs and give it those hours. Find gratitude - before you even get out of bed think of three things you are thankful for. Trust me, if you start the day off with positive emotions that will guide your day in the right direction. Hydrate! Journal - I have 2 journals one for my big picture and one for the little picture of what’s next. Think of it as a roadmap to your destination, yeah you need to know where you’re going (the big picture) but you also need to be able to use the GPS (the little picture) to help direct you there. You’ll need to use both in order to make it to your destination! So write it, see it, and feel it. Meditate - instead of jumping right into the projects you need to tackle today. Take a few moments more in a nonreactive state to gear you up for the day. Get to WORK! Make sure to tackle your big/most important/ hard project first. Once you get it out of the way you’ll feel like the rest of the day is a success! Movement - finish off your morning with a reward such as a walk or yoga class. Get outside, appreciate what’s around you and move your body.  Notice that I do ALL of these things before touching my phone, checking Facebook, or logging into my email. Start your day off on the right track, it might take some discipline to get you into the right headspace.
