The second episode in our series of podcast documentaries about seasons in which a New York Islander won a major NHL award. Bryan Trottier had burst on to the NHL in a big way and continued to get better and better, claiming the Art Ross and Hart Trophies as the NHL’s leading scorer and Most Valuable Player, respectively, just three years after entering the league. Within that season, Trottier experienced incredible highs and lows, including a five-goal, eight-point performance in one game, a scoring streak that spanned nearly a quarter of the season, and stinging losses to the USSR in the Challenge Cup series and the New York Rangers in the NHL playoffs.
