Luke explains how addiction leaves you in a state of mental fog. He was so focused on the addiction that his brain was not able to retain many tender memories with his family. They would go through cycles where Cindy would catch Luke and then he would commit to stop and then she would catch him again and the cycle continued for years. Back then he didn't think it was a bad thing, he just thought he needed to stop because Cindy would get mad. She blamed herself for years and kept it secret because she felt ashamed. Cindy talks about the importance of taking care of herself and realizing that policing her husband was not going to solve anything. Even though it was Luke who had the addiction, they each were fighting the adversary on their own separate battlefield. Praying together even when the days were hard was one of the biggest tools that helped them stay unified in their battle. Fighting together is STRENGTH - fighting against each other is WEAKNESS.
