Here we go! The Lakers finally played a game that counts. So how did the new LeBron James/Anthony Davis/Russell Westbrook era kick off? Not so hot. On the surface, a 121-114 loss to the Warriors doesn't seem *that* terrible, but once you break down the particulars, there was a lot to be concerned about. There was the defense, which fell apart badly over the second half. There were turnovers. There was sub-50 percent shooting from the free throw line. And there was Westbrook, whose Laker debut was pretty disastrous all around. (The potential reasons for this inauspiciousness are both fascinating and, frankly, human.)
To be clear, there were also some bright spots. Kent Bazemore played great defense against Steph Curry. The offense was at times quite overwhelming. And LeBron and AD looked like... well...
