Welp, veteran starting pitcher Charlie Morton is no longer a Tampa Bay Ray--as he's signed a one- year, $15 million deal to the contending Atlanta Braves. Was a gamble it for the Rays to decline his team option in hopes of bringing him back on a cheaper deal, or is this simply part of a larger scheme to slash-and-dash payroll for the 2021 season (Blake Snell, Kevin Kiermaier, you've been warned...) Uncle Chuck will certainly be missed, and can't blame him for being reunited with the organization he was originally drafted to in 2002, and getting the opportunity to again work with catcher Travis d'Arnaud.
