Howdy y'all! It's been a month of Sundays ain't it?

Thanks for joining us once again for the episode y'all have been waiting for... THE (mountain) HERITAGE (festival) EPISODE!

Okay. Okay. Let us explain.

We had legit planned the H-WORD episode, the massive one, along with SIX live guests spanning the almost 20 year history of the show... and then some things happened, well beyond our control, that made it impossible for everybody to gather in one place safely. Stuff happens, we're sorry, BUT... if we couldn't do this episode on the weekend it NEEDED to be done on, we decided to go a different direction for now and postpone the H-word episode for a special date/time.

Instead, pull up a rocking chair and enjoy this episode which focuses on small town festival culture in Appalachia! We take a deep dive on the history of the Letcher County Mountain Heritage Festival (the H-word show's namesake!) and hear how it came about, and highs and lows of it's 39 year existence. Our guest tonight is Phillip Hampton, a past chairman of the Mountain Heritage Festival Committee as well as the only remaining member from the first ever festival.

We cover needy bands, parade fails, stolen pigs and sweet little old lady moonshine runs. Plus, stick around at the end of the episode where we briefly touch on some new #LCDpodcast T-Shirt artwork and the @KSPCruising "Cruising with Cruisers" show in Whitesburg on October 16th - where dragging is legal once again! Also, LMC dresses up as a chicken.

This is one of MY favorite episodes, and much like the Story Time with Uncle Doug episode, this is a chance for us to sit down with a major name in Letcher County KY lore and pick their brain. Hope y'all enjoy!
