Has there ever been a more glorious fan reaction to a Premier League defeat like we saw at Stamford Bridge?

So, a Raheem Sterling-inspired Blues beat Luton 3-0 to ensure Town remain pointless after two top-flight games, but the real story is what happened after the game.

More than 3,000 Luton supporters that packed into the west London stadium stayed in their seats until well after the final whistle to cheer and chant for their Hatters heroes, in a show of support and solidarity that will be alien to most Premier League fans.

It led manager Rob Edwards and chief executive to both comment on how emotional it made them feel and here in our Chelsea review podcast, Kev, Tony, James and Dan discuss the events of that evening, both on and off the field.

And with days remaining on the 2023 summer transfer window, the boys look ahead to where Luton might need to strengthen as well as a possible exit for one of the fan favourite stars that helped the Hatters win promotion to the big time.

The Luton Town Supporters Trust celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2023 year having been created, and initially named Trust in Luton, in 2003 to help force out unpopular former owner John Gurney.

Current club chief executive Gary Sweet was part of the group that effectively forced the club into administration and out of Mr Gurney's control, for a new consortium to take over, headed up by Bill Tomlins.

Another change of ownership again brought problems and administration followed again in 2007, until the club was eventually bought out by the fan-led 2020 consortium, headed up by Sweet, which has now helped steer the history-making Hatters from the non-league to the Premier League

The Supporters' Trust is a democratic, non-profit organisation run by fans for fans. The purpose of a Trust is to help fans to join together and strengthen their influence over the way Luton Town Football Club is run, and to improve the links between their club and the community it serves.

In a way, we’re like a union, believing that many voices are stronger than one and that the best way to influence the club is to represent many fans, not just ourselves.

We have defended the Club in the tough times and maintain a shareholding in the Club to ensure we are able to protect and celebrate the future. We act as custodian of the image rights of the Club – to protect the Club name, kit colours, Club crest and mascot for the long-term interests of the Club.

And like our Club, we have integrity. We believe in fair play and are committed to represent the fans and influence the regulation and its enforcement of football. And to collaborate with other Trusts to share our ideas, learn from best practice and presented a stronger voice to the authorities.

Join the Trust for as little as £10 a year (adults) and £5 for children and seniors.

We offer exclusive benefits, podcasts and meet the manager and players events and are committed to continually improving the experience of the Hatters’ fans, bringing the team closer to the fans and bringing the supporters’ voice into the boardroom, validating proposed activities and decisions that impact the fans.

We encourage the you to get involved, to enjoy the thrill (the ups and the downs!) of supporting Luton Town, and we raise money for both the fans and the community/charity, along with the Club, to help with immediate needs as we have seen during the recent COVID crisis, and to build a better future through significant capital projects.
