MAD Knb?! In this YMTP episode, our hosts, Small J, Lady J and Catriona J, exchange stories with Ms. Samira Ali-Gutoc Tomawis. She is a Filipino journalist, environmentalist, women’s advocate and legislator. She served as a member of the Regional Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and a member of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission which was tasked to draft the Bangsamoro Basic Law.
Women have suffered unspeakable discrimination in the earlier centuries, and it remains the most pervasive and persistent form of inequality at present. There have been a lot of organizations and individuals advocating for women’s rights. Ms. Samira is one of those who had been in the forefront in lifting women to empowerment. As what she said, “When you lift a woman, you lift a family. When you lift a family, you contribute to prosperity of our nation. [When you] empower a woman, you empower a nation.”
