I'm preaching on Psalm 124 this coming Sunday, 17 May 2020.

I'm looking for a bit of help with the preparation.

  • What kind of attack do you think the writer is thinking of? It seems pretty severe!

  • Also, how can we be confident the Lord is on our side without becoming proud?

  • What do you think is the core point of the Psalm?

I would be really interested in your thoughts. Thanks for helping me out. If you would like to join as on Sunday, drop me a line and I'll send you the link.

“A song of ascents. Of David.   If the LORD had not been on our side—let Israel say— if the LORD had not been on our side

when people attacked us, they would have swallowed us alive

when their anger flared against us; the flood would have engulfed us,

the torrent would have swept over us, the raging waters

would have swept us away.

Praise be to the LORD,

who has not let us be torn by their teeth. We have escaped like a bird

from the fowler’s snare;

the snare has been broken,

and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the LORD,

the Maker of heaven and earth.” (Psalm 124:0–8 NIV11)
