It’s hard enough to navigate life’s challenges when you received a strong foundation of love and care growing up.

When you didn’t receive that, everything from ordinary situations to stressful situations can be more challenging and  painful.

Most of the men I meet and work with have experienced some degree of being misunderstood, scolded, teased or bullied as a child.

It may not be considered “abuse” but being told to suck it up, or to “be a man” is traumatic to our young selves, and lives on in your nervous system, into adulthood.

Being teased or having a family where you have to “be good to be loved” is also a kind of trauma.

Today’s Man Alive podcast guest, Lucas Mack, grew up in an abusive home and has overcome an incredible amount of pain. Lucas is an inspirational speaker and author who is helping men heal. He and I had a conversation about how he healed and how healing is possible for everyone.

In this conversation we discussed:

* How to start healing from past abuse and trauma* The importance of having people in your life who won’t judge you* What facing your deepest fears can free you from and make possible * The truth about what LOVE is* Lucas’ story of healing and his hope for you and everyone

Lucas is a stellar human being and a powerful example of a man who found hope and love as a result of ensuring serious pain. We know you can too.

Bio:

Lucas Mack works with people who are looking for healing, forgiveness, rest, balance, purpose and peace in their lives by reconnecting them to an understanding of the true definition of love and the power it brings, by giving them personal empowerment, a clear vision, purposeful direction and an ability to give back.

Growing up in an abusive home where fear and confusion ruled his life, he’s been able to break the cycle and find true healing. He learned that love gives truth permission to come forth resulting in personal freedom, and the reason we aren’t free is because we don’t know what true love is.

He leads people to experience change in themselves in order for them to impact the world, through spiritual reconnection, personal healing, and legacy building.
