The word Kali comes from the word "Kaala", what means black. Kali symbolize these aspects of the cosmic being - creation, preservation and destruction which happen all the time. This is expressed in this way that Kali is dancing on Shiva's chest. Kali's three eyes view the past, present and future. Their bright white teeth symbolize Sattva, the purity. The protruding tongue means rajas, the active principle in nature. Durga represents the powerful creativity and consciousness of supreme power. It is the divine mother-goddess, she is powerful and the best expression of nature as a female deity. Durga is friendly, kind and gracious to those who submit. Durga fulfills the wishes of their devotees who pray with a sincere heart to her, she granted material and spiritual wealth.
