This mantra is called the Maha Mantra (Great Mantra) for the Kali Yuga - the age of Iron, where we are at the moment or time. This mantra gives us bliss and joy, purity in our hearts. It can also be sung for the peace in the world. Hari is one of the names of Vishnu.
