Summary: Catholicism is unique among Christian traditions in that it retains the idea of papal authority, or the primacy of the Petrine (succession of St. Peter) ministry in the Bishop in Rome. The Catholic claim is not that any pope is perfect in character, but that Christ has established through the headship of Peter, the basis for unity in the worldwide Church. In this homily, Fr. Kevin demonstrates the basis for the papacy from the Scriptures.
