Summary: Mary shows up at each key point in the salvation story described in the Gospels: From the first wedding miracle at Cana, to the crucifixion, resurrection and Pentecost. Even from the very beginning of the church's history down to our present day, Mary shows up everywhere; in the prayers, the liturgy, Christian art, and across many different cultures as an icon of the great work of God.

Far from replacing Jesus, Mary magnifies him. Mary is the first and greatest missionary/disciple who points us finally to Christ and his great work of salvation. While Christ alone is the one saves us, Christ never does his work merely alone -- but includes within his plan the participation of his entire Church family, most significantly: Mary.
