It is a promising news that the 46th US president-elect Joe Biden and vice president-elect Kamala Harris are likely to strengthen the tie with India by lifting the H-1B ban, increase the number of employment based visas issued each year and remove country quota for green cards. This move will help MBA aspirants and IT firms and thousands of Indian techies impacted by Trump’s protectionist policies. Having said that, Biden’s policy of comprehensive immigration reform will also consider domestic consumption of IT products and so, there could be restrictions on outsourcing. Nevertheless, easing of immigration and visa rules will certainly bring a new hope and relief for the student community.
