Migraines, Part 2: What is New in Migraine Treatment?

This activity is targeted toward all physician providers.
 
Statement of Need
Data indicates that approximately 12 percent of Americans suffer from migraine headaches and migraines are more common in women than men, with a ratio of three to one.  Additionally, a migraine is one of the top reasons that patients visit their physician. Therefore, providers should be current on recognizing the symptoms of migraine as well as how to treat migraines or when to refer to a neurologist.
 
Objectives
At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:
  1. List lifestyle modifications that can affect the incidence of migraines
  2. Describe the acute interventions for migraine, non-specific and migraine specific
  3. Discuss non-pharmacological, pharmacological and preventative treatments for migraines
