This activity is targeted toward all physician specialties.
 
Statement of Need 
When pediatric patients present with headaches, a comprehensive evaluation should be conducted to determine if it is a primary or secondary headache. Providers should consistently utilize the latest diagnostic and management guidelines to effectively diagnose and manage their pediatric patients with headaches.
 
Objectives 
At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to: 
  1. Discuss the prevalence of headaches in the pediatric population.
  2. Discuss the symptoms and clinical characteristics of headaches including the distinction of symptoms between adults and teens. 
  3. Describe the diagnostic process for headaches in teens including red flags. 
  4. Identify effective management strategies for primary headaches including migraines in the teen patient.
