According to Data from the 2011 Drug Abuse Warning Network - cocaine was involved in over 500,000 of the nearly 1.3 million drug related ER visits. That's about 1 in every 3 visits that are related to drugs. Transport to the ER annually for medical emergencies caused by alcohol has increased from about 3 million to 5 million over the past 9 years! Of these admissions - the CDCs estimated that over 72,000 individuals died of drug over doses in 2017, that was an ALL TIME high in U.S history.
