Mer Watches A Movie - a podcast by Meredith Ewing

This episode is sort of a reintroduction of who I am and a new segment I'm calling "A Doula Watches...". This segment will always come with a content warning. Know that I will be talking about birth, birth trauma and evaluating behaviors and policies that make it into movies/TV. First up is Knocked Up. I recently watched through my doula-in-training eyes... and with the added context of having birthed a human... I was appalled. It's an "edutaining" look at the movie from my perspective. The disclaimer before my "review" is that I know it is a COMEDY. I understand it as a comedy, but I want to demystify birth. Birth in the media is not often portrayed in the most accurate way.
