Peter’s Vision in Acts 10 seems to be the “go to” passage for believers who want to eat detestable things like pig, shrimp, rat, snake, and bat. Along with Mark 7 (addressed in part two of this series) this passage is commonly misunderstood due to the vast majority of Catholic and Protestant scholars neglecting the Jewish background and Hebraic antecedent theological context of the Jewish Jesus, the Jewish Apostle Mark, and the Jewish Apostle Peter. When we read the Jewish Apostle Peter in his 1st century, Jewish theological and cultural context, we discover that his vision actually has to do with God's ability to cleanse kosher food and God's ability to cleanse the Gentiles not about cleansing forbidden unclean foods. In this teaching we will look at the words of Peter within their historical, cultural, and antecedent Jewish theological framework. This original context will be surprising and refreshing!
