"Definition of Success in Academic Surgery"

The Anne Klibanski Visiting Lecture Series was created to support and advance the careers of women. These lectures bring together faculty from institutions that have hosted Anne Klibanski Scholars with MGH scholars, on topics that overlap both research areas.

Presenters:
Cassandra Kelleher, MD, Assistant Professor, Pediatric Surgery, Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School presented on “The Path to Success is a Long Winding Road.” Angela Gibson, MD, PhD, FACS, Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery, University of Wisconsin - Madison presented on “Love the Skin You’re In: My Approach to Tenure as a Surgeon Scientist.”

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the current challenges facing surgeon scientists
  • Identify key strategies to be successful as a surgeon scientist
  • Recognize the many roles that a surgeon scientist can have in academia
