Why study Church history?

• Because our story is historical


• We're part of that history, and it is both an encouragement and education.


• We were given examples in the Old Testament


• Church history is a lens to view our beliefs.


• Often, Church history is a magnifying lens if we look.


• Sometimes, we need another example.

What is your definition of "Church"?

• In Matthew


• In Acts (1:8; 2; 8:12; 10-11; 28:16)

Does the "Church" include the Old Testament nation of Israel?

• Frequently, that depends on whom you ask.

Some of the heresies we have revisited:

• God created Jesus


• Two Gods in the Bible


• God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are three people or three manifestations


• The God of the Bible is the same as the God of the Koran
