We are with Dr. Jerry Thornhill as he explains the principle behind hemodialysis, bringing a dialyzer into the studio. Dr. Thornhill has devoted his career to the study and practice of veterinary nephrology. He was the first to successfully complete hemodialysis on a companion animal in the mid western United States. Hundreds of thousands of similar life-saving dialysis treatments occur in the US every year.

He’s a Mizzou alumn, former professor at Purdue and the driving force behind the nephrology department at Veterinary Specialty Center near Chicago, IL. Jerry loves to read biographies of US presidents and has a collection of almost 500 volumes in his, at home, presidents library. Jerry also shares with us some life lessons and talks about his walks with ex president Harry Truman. Please welcome a modest man with a brilliant mind, Dr. Jerry Thornhill.
