For the first time since lockdown, we had a band come through our PLAYDEAD CULT concert space, with our new partners, SEEROCKLIVE.COM, contributing gear. What band did we choose to mark this monumental occasion? It had to be female led, Toronto based, ELECTRO-GRUNGE trio, HOT LIPS. This is a band that even a pandemic can't slow down. They just released a music vid for their song, CRY WOLF, and"QUARANTUNE"posted exclusively on their IGTV, and they have a brand new song that they DEBUT during this studio session."Naturally unconventional"is a great way to describe this band, and that's what we're all about on Midnight Looms.
Our host, GOBS, matches the futuristic Rock N Roll vibes of Hot Lips with a mix or fresh new tunes from THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE, CANCER BATS, COLD BEACHES, HEART ATTACK KIDS, NO AGE,&WOLFHOUNDS, along with a little LIQUID DNB by POLARIS, and a killer MASHUP of SUB FOCUS and THE WEEKND. For the first time, Gobs is torn between 2 songs, by DRAB CITY and PROTOMARTYR respectively, to be this month's SYN (Song You Need). Towards the end of the program, Hot Lips helps out with a round of THE BRIDE (something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue), and then Gobs CROONS ALONG to a DANCEHALL CLASSIC by BARRINGTON LEVY. What a great way to end off another CRAZY 88 PLAYLIST and an amazing month of programming.
