Tonight we have a band inside our PLAYDEAD CULT DIY concert space with such a buzz around them, and this appearance is their first performance in 6 months! It's also the closest thing to a live concert we are going to get from them any time soon (thanks COVID!) so let's enjoy it and make the most of it too. They're called PANTAYO, and their debut album is on the POLARIS  PRIZE shortlist. They are 5 queer identifying ladies of Filipino descent who combine the traditional Kulintang instruments of their heritage with modern electronics to arrive at a sound that they describe as"Lo-Fi R&B Gong Punk".
While they sound check, our host, GOBS, takes you on a wild musical JOURNEY-BY-DJ, dropping some WORLD BEAT, some METAL,and some moody gothy stuff, kicking it all off with a fun throw back.
After the performance, we have Pantayo play a round of THE BRIDE (something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue), and then Gobs concludes another CRAZY 88 SPOTIFY PLAYLIST with some HIP HOP, electronic sounds, a powerful spoken word piece, and a special announcement about our guests for Halloween Season!THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE, D'VINCI BLANCO, DANIEL CAESAR, ELLIS, IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT, J.
