Fighting With My Family is one of the best reviewed movies of the young 2019 film year. It’s a major accomplishment for WWE Studios who’ve been grinding it out mostly in the direct to home video markets since 2002. But as he usually does, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has the magic touch as co-star and one of the driving forces behind this production. He also gets a lot of quality help. There’s a stellar cast headed by rising star Florence Pugh and seasoned comedians Nick Frost & Vince Vaughn, and then you have an unlikely turn from Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey. Stephen Merchant brings it all together in a well composed, already celebrated film that the Mikes of Oscar could not ignore, especially since one of us is a diehard, lifelong wrestling fan.

So we have fun alluding to the real story of Saraya “Paige” Knight in the non-spoiler section, and then we dive into both the onscreen & offscreen versions of her early life stories once we break down the entire plot in our spoiler section. A spoiler warning musical interlude warns you of the latter, and as Mike 1 likes to say, our OSP’s give you two movie reviews for the price of one. We’re only two weeks out from the Oscars, and this is now our second OSP of the 2019 film year.

Captain Marvel was our first in this new series, and you can listen to that in our previous episode. Also feel free to go back to any of our 5 preview shows on Captain Marvel that we made throughout the year. You can find both of these in our MCU series playlist on Soundcloud. The Marvel Cinematic Universe was the first of several franchise re-watches. We’ve also covered the Michael Myers / Halloween films, the Mission Impossibles, The Conjuring / Warren CU, and several of our favorite Christmas films in their own series of podcasts.

Also don’t miss our kickoff episodes to the 2019/20 film year with our Way Too Early Oscar Predictions that we completed in two episodes. So we don’t just cover the hell out of the awards season. This is a year round preview, review, interview & film appreciation podcast, and if you’re just coming to us with this show, welcome.

As always, let us know what you think. We’re at MMandOscar on Twitter, and we are on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail. When reality sucks, keep watching movies with us. We’re Mike, Mike, & Oscar!
