The Hollywood Critics Association Awards nominations dropped this weekend, and after discussing the standouts, surprises & snubs, we do a statistical breakdown of how closely this awards show aligns with the Oscars. Hint hint, it’s more than you’d think, and if you thought the Indie Spirits gave us one group of indie film darlings, this show represented another.

Graham Norton was announced as the new host for this year’s BAFTA’s, and we reminisce over the MI: Fallout promotional campaign. Then we react to the first reactions to 1917, as it enters the Oscar Race as a possible contender for one of the technical categories, and we quote some friends of the show for their superlatives.

We continue to get conflicting information on the Feature Documentary category. Soooo…. what else is new? The Documentary Award nominations from the Producers Guild of America give us some of the usual nominees, and then a few surprises. We take a moment to enjoy the Clio Entertainment Awards winners to celebrate the best marketing campaigns on the year, and then we discuss the second trailer for Honey Boy.

To close the episode, we’re all about our Make The Case segment. We confirm a case against Where’d You Go Bernadette, which dropped on VOD this past week. Mike 1 drags a few first reactions from Also Mike regarding Knives Out, and then we dive into Frozen II.

We talk about the fandom, the themes, and some other heart warming implications this new blockbuster has had on the Thanksgiving box office. Then we each make the case for & against the film as a potential Oscars nominee, even though we both know it’s gonna be there. To complete the segment, we do a quick Snubbable vs Unsnubbable about the candidacy of “Into The Unknown,” and how polarized people are about the new song from Adele Dazeem herself.
