We did it. MMO has now reviewed every single movie of the Halloween franchise. After building up with 10 captain kirk masked slasher film reviews over 7 episodes, our 8th installment in MMO Does Halloween covers the movie event that is 2018’s David Gordon Green / Danny McBride blockbuster hitting theaters TODAY, October 19th.

It was well worth it. That’s our thesis statement in this episode as we give the newest Halloween our full review treatment. We give you full filmographies of the cast & crew including longer looks at the director, David Gordon Green and his queen of screaming, Jaimie Lee Curtis. Our favorite characters are back and better than ever, and we also tell you the story of how it all came to be as we chronicle the story inception journey from Dimension to Blumhouse, from Zombie to DGG, and back where it all started, a Haddonfield October 31st with the original Laurie Strode running and fighting the masked man himself. Oh, and the Master of Horror not only gave his blessing, but he got his genius ass back behind the synthesizer to producer and help score the film.
The production values and performances both lived up to caliber of filmmakers and cast members attached, and we applaud both of these central elements throughout our non-spoiler review. Then we dance with you during our spoiler warning interlude before diving into the full plot breakdown of the film. We preface our beat by beat recap and analysis with some more intel on the potential for a sequel, and our epilogue covers many of the easter eggs we noticed throughout this film that paid proper tribute and homage to the other movies in the franchise.

If you need some spooky listens throughout your Halloween season, we’ve now devoted 10 full episodes to this movie event including 2 trailer episodes dedicated to our preview of the film as well as the 8 episode arc of MMO Does Halloween. Also don’t miss our All The Horror anthology episode, which was closely linked in theme and tone to our slasher film pod series here, and if you enjoyed these podcasts, then surely check out our reviews of The Conjuring Universe, The Cloverfield Paradox, A Quiet Place, and Hereditary amongst all our year round Oscar coverage.
