EP 19 Mixed Life ATL "Anti-Racism" Part 3 w/ Shannon & Tarana - a podcast by Mixed Life ATL
from 2020-12-06T04:38:18
Tarana reacts in an emotional way to Shannon's two-part conversation with her friend and ally, Claire, about anti-racism. During the discussion Shannon mentions the 1966 documentary film called, "A Time for Burning" - where a white Lutheran Pastor in Omaha tries to encourage racial bridge building between a Black Lutheran church and a white Lutheran church. Unfortunately, the work doesn't go so well. We highly recommend you take time to watch.
Ally is defined as someone who makes the commitment and effort to recognize their privilege (based on gender, class, race, sexual identity, etc.) and work in solidarity with oppressed groups in the struggle for justice. Allies understand that it is in their own interest to end all forms of oppression, even those from which they may benefit in concrete ways.
