WHAT HAPPENED 

Friday, May 21st-Red River Valley Speedway 

There were two entrants into the Unintentional Roll Over Contest in the Legends division Friday.  First was Elzetta Bitker had a scarry wreck going over 3 ½ times for 14 points putting her 2 points in the lead.  At the end of the same race, Collin Compson was collected in an incident and Compson went over 3 times himself.  Bitker was taken in for observation but all drivers were OK.  The big winners were Rich Pavlicek in the Sportmods, “The Cheetah” Rob VanMil in the Stockcars, “Hollywood” Tye Wilke in the Legends, Marcus Rotherbacher in the 305 Sprints, and Matt Aukland in the Modifieds. 

Saturday, May 22nd-North Central Speedway-Brainerd, MN 

Brandon Yamry led off the night with the Sportmod win, then it was Tim Gonska in the Stockcars, Scott Herron in the Hobby Stocks, Dustin Nelson in the Super Stocks, Chad Funt in the Mod Fours, Billy “The Kid” Kendal in the Modifieds, and Austin Raths in the Sport Compacts took the checkers, but had illegal headers and was DQ’d.  Jenna Hageman was declared the winner for the first time in her career. 

Sunday, May 23rd-Buffalo River Speedway 

Patrick Brejcha became the 3rd participant into the Unintentional Rollover Contest on the first lap of the Lightning Sprint feature Sunday, going over 3 ¼ times for a total of 13 points.  1 out of the lead.  He was OK.  For the first time in his career, Will Miller took the Hobby Stock win.  He was followed by Jacob Jordan in the Sportmods, Ben Wolden in the Limited Late Models, Dexter Dvergsten in the Lightning Sprints, and John Current in the Short Trackers. 

NASCAR 

Chase Elliot won the rain shortened EchoPark Texas Grand Prix making him the 4th different Hendrick Motorsports driver to win this year.  Point leader Denny Hamlin finished 14th and still has a 98-point lead over William Byron.  Up next for the NASCAR Cup Series is the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte on Sunday. 

SCHATZ WATCH 

David Gravel got the big win at Attica Raceway Park in Ohio on Friday.  Donny Schatz got 2nd.  That win is in reach.  Saturday, at the Sharon Speedway in Hartford, OH, Dave Blaney won on a last lap pass for his 95th Outlaw win of his career.  The first for the 1995 Champion, and my favorite win, since 1997.

Tonight-Fireworks on the track and afterwards at the Red River Valley Speedway-7pm.  I94 Speedway Fergus Falls-Steffes Street Stock Tour-7pm.  River Cities Speedway-Northern Renegade Wingless Sprints-7pm. 

Saturday-Jamestown Speedway Armed Forces Night-7pm.  Viking Speedway Memorial Double Header Night 1 with the Steffes Street Stock Tour, along with traditional and non-winged sprint cars-6:30pm. 

Sunday-Viking Speedway Memorial Double Header Night 2 with the Steffes Street Stock Tour, along with traditional and non-winged sprint cars-6:30pm. 

Monday-Sheyenne Speedway-Lisbon 6pm. 

Thursday-Norman County Raceway Season Opener-Ada 7pm.
