Bonnie and Doug visit with Track Announcer Corey Litton of Checkers and Wreckers to get a recap of last weekend's races and to get a preview on   this weekend's races, including locally, World of Outlaws and NASCAR.  Corey joins us every Friday at 6:40am during the racing season. CHECKERS AND WRECKERS FOR FRIDAY, AUGUST 27TH

WHAT HAPPENED

FRIDAY-Lamb Jam-Kathryn, ND

A fun and good-sized crowd braved the elements and enjoyed the First Ever Lamb Jam at the Ranch.  Where they Saw Chris Hoffman win in the Stock Class.  Then Bill Anderson was quickest in the Modifieds.  After that, Jeremy Vessey took his 1,100 horsepower Ford out and won in the Mega Light class.

SATURDAY-World of Outlaws and the NLRA Late Models at the Red River Valley Speedway

32 NLRA Late Models and 31 World of Outlaws Sprint Cars took to the Red River Valley Speedway Saturday night.  And right off the bat, Kasey Kahne set a New Track Record of 11.397 seconds.  Mike Greseth walked away and won the NLRA Late Model feature by over 8 seconds.  Late in the Outlaw feature, Donny Schatz was able to get around David Gravel to take the lead and hold off for win number 301 on the career to the delight of the home crowd fans.

SUNDAY-Buffalo River Speedway

Devin Larson charged up from 10th to win in the Hobby Stocks.  Then Jacob Jordan was victorious in the Sportmods for the 3rd time this year at BRS.  Curtis Huseth got his first Buffalo River Short Tracker win of the year.  Ben Wolden got another Limited Late Model win. (Has only lost 1 time this year at BRS) Then Allen Kent finished off the night by winning in the Modifieds.

MONDAY-Red River Valley Kart Club-Cristian Motors Summer Shootout

Ryder Veralrud won in the Novice 1 division.  Then Blake Bogart won in the Novice 2 class.  Brady Heilman won for the 4th time in the Rookie 1 class.  Then it was Owen Springer who won in the rookie 2’s.  Owen Broden was the winner in the 206 Blue Slide class.  Kyle VanMil charged up from 5th to win in the 206 Black Slide class.  Then it was “The Stevenator” Steven Olson picking up the Adult class win.

WEDNESDAY-River Cities Speedway-World of Outlaws make up

Joey Pederson won the Late Model portion of the night.  And Brad Sweet led 2/3rds of the last lap of the World of Outlaw main event to win by only .113 over Sheldon Haudenschild.  Donny Schatz placed 4th in both features.  But he passed 16 cars to get up to 4th in the Late Models.

TURSDAY-Norman County Raceway Season Championship

Rained out.  Champions: Racesaver Sprints-Tye Wilke, Legends-Ryan Braseth, Midwest Mods-Aaron Blacklance, Sportmods-Andy Wagner, Hobby Stocks-Todd Gettel, Stock Cars-Todd Heinrich, Mods-Kollin Hibdon.

 NASCAR

Ryan Blaney held off a charging William Byron to win in Michigan Sunday for his second win of the season locking him into 7th in points going into the final race of the regular season at Daytona.  Kyle Larson finished 3rd giving him a 28 point lead over Denny Hamlin just a couple weeks away from the playoffs.
