In this episode I catch up with former Red Bull Athlete and veteran coach Shaums March.


Shaums is considered one of the most prolific coaches in the entire sport. If you've ever had a lesson, it's likely Shaums had a hand in the result because of his experience in creating coaching programs. 


Shaums is the lead instructor and President of the Bike Instructor Certification Program and founder of March Northwest Mountain Biking.


He has over 20 years of experience coaching both youth and beginner riders as well as leading multiple riders to National and World Championship titles, including Miranda Miller, Kate Courtney, and Danny Hart among countless others. 


He is a two-time Downhill Masters World Champion, Former Red Bull Athlete for 15 years, and even finished 4th at the Red Bull Rampage in Utah. 


He was the first African American to win a NORBA National Downhill Race and the first African American chosen to race Downhill World Championships. 


Shaums shares his insight on what's still the same decades of the evolution in mountain biking, what drives him to help athletes, plus we uncover some hilarious situations he has been a part of with coaching some of the world's best.
