"Life is like the surf, so give yourself away like the sea."  We watched Y tu mamá también (2001) with our friend Sandra Espinoza and we're packing the station wagon for a roadtrip to Boca del Cielo.  Time is a hell of a concept and man did it do a number on us when we re-watched this classic of Mexican cinema.  As young lads first introduced to this film, we were struck by the beauty of its cast, its locations and its story, but as aged queens of the 2020's we've really changed who we identify with.  Of course as teens coming to grips with our queerness we sided with the beautiful Julio (Gael García Bernal) and Tenoch (Diego Luna) and their spontaneous beach trip.  Now that we're grown - it's fully team Luisa (Maribel Verdú) who feels like she's babysitting without getting paid.  Masterfully directed by Alfonso Cuarón and shot by Emmanuel "Chivo" Lubezki - it captures the beauty of Mexico in a way not often seen in American movies.  No yellow filter to be found - just 2 boys, a girl, a lot of tequila and colorful translations of Mexican slang. No mames guey!
