About Patrice Gentile

Owner, Seamstress & designer Patrice Gentile discusses the start of Aliceanna including grandmaternal inspiration for her slow fashion brand, sustainable fabric sourcing.

About ALICEANNA

ALICEANNA was named for designer Patrice Gentile’s much-admired grandmothers. ALICE, a headstrong powerhouse, who learned the ins and outs of business through her entrepreneurial Middle Eastern and Italian immigrant parents, and ANNA, a free-spirited non-conformist, who rejected her conservative 1950s Midwestern upbringing. In Gentile’s mind, each matriarch acts as the yin to each other’s yang. Growing up, Gentile found herself somewhere in the middle of these two identities— borrowing characteristics from Alice and Anna as she saw fit. Both the designer and her line are the product of two women.

ALICEANNA is a line of handcrafted covetable pieces dedicated to a woman’s inner duality. All ALICEANNA garments are made in small batches or are one-off originals. Each piece is made from vintage or deadstock fabric sourced from all over the country. Gentile makes each piece one by one, and each is a labor of love. Gentile has created a line that minimizes excess and steers away from mass production and fast trends. She is an strong advocate for ethical, eco-friendly fashion and has converted ALICEANNA into a zero-waste brand.
