Steve Prestage is the President / CEO of I.T. Ideas Inc – a full service IT Service provider focused primarily on empowering non-profit and charity based organizations for sustainability and success! Steve has been a business owner for 20 years and has almost 30 years of experience in Information Technology. Much of that time was spent working extensively with non-profit and charitable organizations in BC. Steve is also a successful investor, a sailor, and plays trumpet for many pro-amateur groups around town.

Steve has identified a huge demand for education and awareness about all aspects of IT, especially for non-profit and charitable organizations. More than 80% of these organizations don’t have a written IT plan, and many organizations are completely unaware that they are one technical crisis away from closing their doors forever. Most charities and non-profits are not directly awarded funding for IT and are therefore left to fend for themselves. The result is a massive waste of dollars and a loss of potential for leveraging technology to streamline productivity, implement better programs, and to effectively engage valuable volunteer resources. This means that at the end of the day, money and resources are not flowing to the programs that are required by those in society who depend on them the most. Steve and his team are absolutely passionate about educating and creating awareness as to how to solve these challenges, while supporting and empowering those organizations who are willing to go the distance!

What you’ll learn about in this episode:

  • How I.T. Ideas was born when Steve decided to start his own business
  • The challenges Steve faced in growing his business that forced his income to drop to 30%
  • The resources that he found that helped him finally realize what he needed to see I.T. Ideas grow to where it is today
  • Why you can’t expect to clone yourself and be successful
  • Self-awareness and self-observation: why you need to figure out what you’re good at and what you’re not so that you can find the help that you need
  • The importance of consistent education (and why Steve is a big fan of attending live events)
  • Going above and beyond for your clients and fixing problems when something goes wrong
  • How supporting your peers will give you abundance in return
