American artist and filmmaker Philip Haas (b. 1954) has created a colossal fiberglass sculpture inspired by Giuseppe Arcimboldo's painting Winter (1563), on display at the National Gallery of Art as part of the exhibition Arcimboldo, 1526�1593: Nature and Fantasy. Leithauser discusses with the artist what prompted him to make this fascinating work of art.
