What can you do to prevent Wet Macular Degeneration? Wet Macular Degeneration affects your center vision and your ability to read, recognize, and focus your vision. Imagine not being able to recognize your friends' or family's faces and misreading prices on items at the store. It occurs when abnormal blood vessels form in the part of the eye that allows you to see straight in front of you. These blood vessels can leak and bleed which causes you to lose your central vision and the ability to see contrasts.

There are several things you can do to lower your risk of acquiring Wet Macular Degeneration. It usually starts with Dry Macular Degeneration and then progresses towards Wet Macular Degeneration, which can cause blindness. By stopping smoking and reducing your body's overall inflammation, you can significantly reduce your risk of having macular degeneration. Eating more Omega-3 fatty acids and following a fish rich Mediterannean Diet can also help reduce your risk.
