With the 2020 Quarantine still in effect, and likely to remain so for several months, the majority of us are living a somewhat modified but still fairly reclusive lifestyle these days. However, there are several subsets of people who were previously already living in this manner for any one of several reasons.

Some people are shy, introverted, misanthropic, or may even be depressed or grieving. Some may have a mental health condition that affects their socialization. Some are slow to mature and become independent, and are in a so-called “failure to launch” scenario, still living with their parents. Some have physiological health issues that necessitate their limiting their contact with others, such as the immunocompromised. Tonight, we will look at multiple situations that can cause adults to live as recluses or loners.

On our last show, we discussed:

1. An Overview of Reclusiveness

2. Loner by Choice

Tonight, we will discuss:

3. Loner by Pathology

4. Resources for those Struggling with Social Disconnect

We'll start off the evening with some topic-relevant Classic Rock played by Dr. Mathis, followed by Classic Rock trivia in “The Rock & Roll Shrink Recalls,” a moment of rock music trivia stories, as recounted by Dr. Mathis, followed by our topic discussion.

Please follow our bi-weekly, Wednesday evening shows, at 11 pm EST/EDT. We will have a new topic for you in two weeks!
