About : COVID Care and Counselling (CCC) helpline is a national level non profitable  telephonic counselling program which emerged as a joint venture by mental health professionals, students and community volunteers. Select psychologists and psychiatrists from National Institute of Mental Health And Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore in collaboration with five Government registered NGO’s (All Time Love, Kottayam; Psycho Social Movement, Kannur; Peace Hub, Thalasseri; Centre for Community Mental Health, Mangalore; CSI counselling centre, Kottayam and asTECS, Bangalore) are working on this programme . We hope to be a positive force among people during this COVID pandemic.

The COVID Care and Counselling team is divided into three working teams which include technical team, coordination team and a counselling team that exclusively consists of 150 members which include professionals and post graduate final year psychology and social work students. They are provided training through webinars by experts. The idea about COVID Care and Counselling (CCC) Helpline was first put forward by clinical psychologist Dr. Sunny Joseph, a NIMHANS alumni and his friend Prof. Dr. Aneesh, a psychiatric social worker at NIMHANS.  The motive of this platform is to provide an opportunity for the stressed, anxious individuals, an opportunity to converse with a mental health professional through the helpline number 8066406644.  The telephonic counselling can be availed in five languages – English, Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Kannada. All the details of the callers are kept confidential and those people identified with a need for expert advice are referred to experts who will provide them further support.

On behalf of CCC had a detailed conversation with Sister Gracy regarding the activities, movement and future plans of this project.
