The Taliban have taken control of Afghanistan just two weeks before the U.S. was set to complete its troop withdrawal. Despite many media critics calling this President Biden’s “Saigon moment”, President Biden said in a speech that he stands squarely behind his decision to withdraw U.S. troops and that “the buck stops with me.” Biden went on to blame the current gut-wrenching scene on the Afghan government saying they “gave up” and the military collapsed “sometimes without trying to fight”.
