In Massachusetts, 21 convicted murderers sentenced to life without parole, have been released from prison under the state’s medical parole law. The law permits a prisoner to petition for their release if they have been diagnosed as terminally ill with a life expectancy of fewer than 18 months or in such poor health, they have been deemed a non-threat to society. In essence, this law allows prisoners to die peacefully at home. Is this a good idea?
