After several years of working in private equity, Angela Sutherland never thought she would one day become the co-founder of a baby food company. However, when Sutherland became pregnant with her first child, she realized the gap in the market of easily accessible food that is also nutritionally sound. After doing some research and pitching the problem to her longtime friend Evelyn Rusli, the two decided to create Yumi, an organic baby food company with weekly deliveries. On this episode, Sutherland and Rusli discuss their decisions to leave their careers in private equity and journalism, respectively, for the life of an entrepreneur and how their “immigrant motors” have been their number one motivator along the way.
