All year long we have been underscoring that in Christ we belong to God. In fact, we have confessed together that belonging to “our faithful Savior” is our “only comfort” in “body and soul, in life and in death.” In belonging to God, we then also belong to God’s narrative, his story, his eternal story. In this way, Christians belong to eternity and not just to the circumstances of the moment. Belonging to eternity actually puts every moment then into perspective. Our moments belong to God and to God’s eternal narrative, his eternal story. Rather than having to construct and hold together meaningful lives of our own, in Christ we already have significance, purpose and direction. We stay close to God—abide in Christ—in part so that we keep living according to his life-giving, life renewing story. Listen as Dr. Bob Jordan leads us through Lamentations 3:19-33.
