James Bryan Smith in his book The Good and Beautiful God asserts, “What we truly desire, what we are most passionate about, will determine how we organize our lives.” With this notion in mind, we ask ourselves, “What are we seeking in our relationship with God?” God already knows what he plans for our relationship with him. One articulation of his answer is found in Galatians 5:22-23, the Fruit of the Spirit. God is committed to working in us through his Spirit the very character of Christ (Galatians 4:19), the various attributes that send us toward one another with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
