A. THE OFFICE OF ELDER (1 Peter 4:1).

1. “I exhort the elders among you” -

2. “elders” speaks to maturity.

B. PETER’S SELF-DESCRIPTION (1 Peter 4:1).

1. Fellow elder.

2. Witness of the sufferings of Christ.

3. Partaker of the future glory.

C. EXHORTATIONS TO ELDERS (1 Peter 4:2-3).

1. Their actions.

a. Shepherd the flock of God.

b. Exercise oversight.

2. Their attitude.

a. Voluntarily, not under compulsion.

b. Not for sordid gain but with eagerness.

c. Don’t lord it over them.

d. Be an example to the flock.

3. Their authority/power (1 Peter 4:2).

C. MOTIVATION FOR THE ELDERS (1 Peter 4:4).
