A. EXHORTATION TO YOUNGER MEN (1 Peter 5:5a).

1. Be subject to the elders.

2. The emphasis on subjection.

B. EXHORTATIONS TO THE CHURCH (1 Peter 5:5b-6).

1. Clothe yourselves with humility (5b).

a. God is opposed to the proud.

b. God gives grace to the humble.

2. Humble yourselves (1 Peter 5:6).

a. Under God’s mighty hand (1 Peter 5:6).

b. He may exalt you at the proper time (1 Peter 5:6).
