Reasons for our Love

Intro

A. REASON #1 - you have been purified (1 Pet. 1:22).

1. Conversion or sanctification?

a. truth = gospel, See also Eph. 1:13; Col. 1:5-6; Jas. 1:18.

b. obedience = their obedience of faith in the gospel of truth (cf. Rom. 1:5; 16:26).

c. purified - they were purified, forgiven of all their sins.

2. Purified for a sincere love of the brethren.

B. REASON #2 - you have been born again (1 Pet. 1:23).

1. What does the “seed” refer to?

a. Word.

b. The Holy Spirit.

2. “through the living and enduring word of God” (1 Pet. 1:23b).

C. CONFIRMATION FROM THE WORD (1 Pet. 1:24-25).

1. Isa. 40:6-7 confirms the enduring nature of the Word of God (1 Pet. 1:24-25).

2. This is the word that was preached to you (1 Pet. 1:25b).
