Intro

Summary - We should fear God with reverential awe because of His eternal purpose to redeem us with the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

A. THE COST OF OUR REDEMPTION (1 Pet. 1:18-19).

1. Their futile way of life (1 Pet. 1:18b).

2. Inherited from their forefathers.

3. Redemption not with silver/gold (1 Pet. 1:18).

4. Redeemed only by the precious blood of Christ (1 Pet. 1:19).

a) Redemption requires sacrificial blood to atone for sin. Lev. 17:11

b) Christ’s blood is precious.

c) The blood of the “lamb unblemished and spotless”.

5. Some blessings from Christ’s precious blood.

B. THE TIMING OF OUR REDEMPTION (1 Pet. 1:20).

1. Eternity past (1 Pet. 1:20a) -

2. Incarnation (1 Pet. 1:20b) -

C. THE HOPE OF OUR REDEMPTION (1 Pet. 1:21).

1. Christ was raised and given glory.

2. Our faith and hope are in God through Christ.
