A. SIMON THE MAGICIAN (Acts 8:9-11).

1. Magician.

2. Claiming to be great (Acts 8:9).

3. Revered by the people (Acts 8:10-11).

B. SIMON THE BELIEVER? (Acts 8:12-13).

1. The gospel of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ.

2. Simon believed and was baptized (Acts 8:13).

3. Continued on with Philip, constantly amazed at the miracles of Philip (Acts 8:13).

C. SIMON THE FALSE PROFESSOR?

1. Defective mind (Acts 8:13).

2. Defective theology (Acts 8:17-19).

3. Defective heart (Acts 8:20-22).

a. Peter’s judgment #1 (Acts 8:20).

b. Peter’s judgment #2 (Acts 8:21).

c. Peter’s exhortation to repent (Acts 8:22-23).


4. Defective repentance (Acts 8:22-24).

a. Peter indicates that his forgiveness is uncertain (Acts 8:22).

b. Simon does not pray nor repent (Acts 8:24).

Conclusion

Beware of defective churches and defective faith.
